6 Things That I Love About Toy Story Land In Walt Disney World Resort

Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World opened on Saturday, June 30, 2018! YAY!!! It was so nice sitting at home over the weekend and checking out pictures and videos from guests seeing it for the first time. The crowd levels were so busy that we chose to wait to go. So, on Monday, I watched the My Disney Experience Mobile App closely all afternoon to see if it was busy or not. It wasn’t too bad. I mean a few of the rides were at a 60+ minute wait and one was 145+ minute wait. Compared to the 5+ hour wait that occurred over the weekend, I figured it was a good time to head over. We arrived at about 7:30 pm, and it was a really pleasant night to explore the new area. We walked right in. I was able to get some snapshots as the sun was going down. Just what I wanted. Yee Ha!!! 🙂

My first impression, as I entered Toy Story Land (and remember this is my opinion, others may have a different thought), was that it didn’t impress me as much as seeing Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the first time. But, it is super cute!!! It really has a fun, child-like feel to it that even makes an adult feel like a kid again. We wandered around like everyone else just gazing up at all of the incredible details. I know that I missed some things and already can’t wait to go back to see more. Since my plan was to just look around and get pictures and video, we didn’t wait for any of the rides. I am really looking forward to riding Slinky Dog Dash. This roller coaster looks like it will be SO fun! There is a new entrance for Toy Story Mania!, and I am looking forward to checking that out too. This has been one of our favorite attractions for a long time now.

We have loved the Toy Story series, and have great memories watching them with our son. It was really awesome to see this new area come to life.

Here are the six things that I love about Toy Story Land:

1. Buzz, Jessie, Sheriff Woody and Rex – there may have been more – would talk to guests if you sit and wait for it. They were recorded messages that were very cute.

2. The Green Army Men interact with guests. I mean they TALK!!! That was very fun to see. They were just out and about with the guests in the area. Also, Woody and Jessie were greeting guests outside.

3. The building for the restrooms is packed with goodness like a Tinkertoys container, Scrabble letters, building blocks and more. So neat!

4. I loved the lighting that continued throughout the whole area. The old-fashioned Christmas lights were amazing with large, creative Tinkertoy displays holding some of them up.

5. Toy Story music was playing, and it really does set a nice mood. I wish that there was more music in all of the theme parks. Disney music is the best!

6. Disney’s Hollywood Studios needed more attractions, and I think the additions are wonderful. Alien Swirling Saucers is great for the little ones and then Slinky Dog Dash fits for older kids. Next up for this park is Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge!!! I REALLY can’t wait to see this when it opens in fall 2019!!!

It was very strange to walk back down to the old entrance of Toy Story Midway Mania!, and see that it is all closed up. In fact, I mentioned to my guys that even though there were some guests meeting Buzz and some food was being sold in the old section, it just felt like a ghost town. No more Barrel of Monkeys (which I loved), the Pixar Studios sign was gone as were a lot of the other fun wall decor. Sad face!!! Things change. 🙂

Some negatives, and I don’t like to be negative, it will probably be pretty warm waiting in line for Alien Swirling Saucers, Toy Story Mania! and Slinky Dog Dash because the queues are mostly outside. Ugh! I also wish that Woody’s Lunch Box was indoors. It just gets too warm during the summer afternoons, and I think it would have been more comfortable to have an indoor eating area. Just my thoughts! Let me know what you think after you take a peek at this new area. I hope you get a chance to do so really soon!!! 🙂 Every experience is different, and everyone has a chance to make their own great memories. Thanks for reading. 🙂
